Ukraine: Ukraine Officials have stated that Russia launched the largest drone attack against the country’s capital of Kyiv since the start of its invasion.

As per the statements, at least 75 drones were launched towards Kyiv. The air raid warning lasted for six hours.

Ukrainian President, Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, called the capital attack an act of “wilful terror.” Air Force chief, Mr. Mykola Oleschuk, lauded the effectiveness of “mobile fire” units, which are essentially quick pick-up trucks with a machine gun or flak cannon installed on its flatbed. According to Mr. Oleschuk, these destroyed about 40 percent of the drones.

“There have been no reported deaths from this attack, but at least five people were injured, including an 11-year-old child,” Kyiv’s mayor, Mr. Vitaliy Klitschko stated.

Mr. Klitschko noted that a kindergarten was among the buildings damaged. Although the target of the attack was not clear, Ukraine has issued warnings in recent weeks that Russia will launch another aerial campaign aimed at destroying the country’s energy system.

Ukraine’s Energy Ministry remarked that the attack caused power outages in roughly 200 buildings in the capital, including 77 residential ones.

Ukraine’s Air Force commented that this was Russia’s largest drone attack since the war started in February 2022.

Mr. Zelenskyy said that Ukraine needed to secure three significant “victories” overseas, such as the approval of extensive aid packages from the US Congress and the European Union, and a formal start of accession talks to a possible member of the European Union.
