Ukraine: Ukrainian President Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned his nation that Russia is using its all resources to stop Kyiv’s troops from pressing their counteroffensive in the south and east of the country. Reports have been out stating that Ukraine’s troops were advancing “not so quickly” in a counteroffensive to recapture territory in the east and south of the country from Russian forces.
“We must all understand very clearly—as clearly as possible—that the Russian forces on our southern and eastern lands are investing everything they can to stop our warriors. Every thousand metres we advance, every success of each of our combat brigades deserves gratitude,” Mr. Zelenskyy stated.
The Ukrainian President also mentioned an important report that he had received on the security situation in neighbouring Belarus, though there is no serious threat yet. The President said he is closely monitoring the report.
Mr. Zelenskyy’s comment came after Russia’s Wagner mercenary group had reportedly reached an agreement to train Belarusian troops. As per the statement, Belarus has emerged as Russian President Mr. Vladimir Putin’s closest ally in his war on Ukraine.
The head of the Ukrainian president’s office, Mr. Andriy Yermak, recently told reporters that the fighting had been difficult for Ukrainian forces and that the offensive was “advancing not so quickly”. All the same, Mr. Yermak stressed that Kyiv would not negotiate with Russia until it withdrew its troops from Ukraine.
Russia’s defence ministry said in its daily report on 14th July 2023, that its forces had repelled 16 Ukrainian attacks on the eastern front, including near the long-contested town of Maryinka and in the strategic village of Klishchiivka, on Bakhmut’s southern fringe.
