    Oppenheimer & Succession swept Golden Globes 2024

    Christopher Nolan's The Oppenheimer bagged five awards at the 81st edition of the much-awaited Golden Globe Awards.

    United States: Christopher Nolan’s epic film ‘The Oppenheimer’ and the TV series ‘Succession’ have swept the most awards in the much anticipated Golden Globes 2024. The awards were declared at the star-studded Ceremony.

    The biopic of J. Robert Oppenheimer, an American theoretical physicist, bagged 5 awards. It was awarded the Best Drama Motion Picture. Cillian Murphy became the Best Actor in a Drama Motion Picture through the movie. Robert Downey jr. became the Best Actor in a Supporting Role for the feature. Ludwig Göransson received the award for Best Original Score through ‘The Oppenheimer’. In addition, its director Christopher Nolan, was acknowledged as the Best Director of a Motion Picture. 

    ‘Succession’ claimed success in the TV Drama section. The fourth and final season of the series was acknowledged the best in the category. The cast of the series also achieved success. Kieran Culkin was awarded for the best performance as an actor in a TV Drama through ‘Succession’. The performance of Sarah Ruth Snook in it made her The best actress in a TV Drama. Matthew Macfadyen became the best performer as a supporting actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television for his performance in ‘Succession’.

    The acting department saw beautiful performances this year. Lily Gladstone became the best actress in a TV Drama for her performance in the movie ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’. It became the only award for the motion picture produced and directed by Martin Scorsese.

    Paul Giamatti became the Best Performer as an actor in a TV musical/comedy for his performance in ‘The Holdovers.’ Da’Vine Joy Randolph became the best performer as a supporting actress in a TV musical/ comedy through ‘The Holdovers.’  

    Elizabeth Debicki became the Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television through her performance as Princess Diana in the Netflix Series ‘The Crown.’

    The FX show ‘The Bear’ dominated the TV musical/ comedy category. It was acknowledged as the best TV musical/ comedy. The actor Jeremy Allen White received the award for the best performance as an actor in the category. The actress Ayo Edebiri was also awarded the best actress in the category. 

    ‘The Poor Things’ became the Best Musical or Comedy Motion Picture and Emma Stone became the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture.

    Actress Ali Wong, the first Asian American nominee in the category of Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television, became the best actress in the section for her performance in Netflix’s revenge drama ‘Beef’. It dominated the category with success as the best limited or anthology series. Steven Yeun became the Best Actor in the category for his performance in ‘Beef’.

    ‘Barbie’, despite winning the most number of nominations, ended up being the winner in the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category. 

    ‘Anatomy of a Fall’ became the Best Non-English Language film with Justine Triet and Arthur Harari receiving the Best Screenplay award for the movie. Billie Eilish received the Award for Best Original Song. Ricky Gervais became the best performer in a Stand-Up Comedy on Television through the Netflix Show, Ricky Gervais: Armageddon. ‘The Boy and the Heron’ became the Best Animated Film.

    Golden Globes Marked the first major event in the award season that ends with The Oscars in March 2024.
