United States: Mr. Sam Altman, the CEO of Open AI, has been ousted by his company’s board of directors.

OpenAI stated that its board of directors decided on the “leadership transition” after losing confidence in Mr. Altman’s ability to lead the firm.

“Mr Altman’s departure follows a deliberative review process by the board, which concluded that he was not consistently candid in his communications with the board, hindering its ability to exercise its responsibilities,” the company said in a statement on its blog.

The board of directors said that they’re grateful for Mr. Altman’s contributions, saying that “new leadership is necessary as we move forward.” The firm or its board didn’t give further information regarding the CEO’s removal.

Mr. Altman shared on X thtat, “i loved my time at openai. it was transformative for me personally, and hopefully the world a little bit. most of all i loved working with such talented people. will have more to say about what’s next later.”

After the release of ChatGPT last year, Altman gained widespread recognition as his creation fascinated and concerned the public with its human-like yet occasionally inaccurate responses to user questions.

In September, New York Magazine published a profile comparing the tech entrepreneur to J. Robert Oppenheimer, famous as the father of the atomic bomb, as per the statement. Time Magazine also featured him on its list of the 100 most influential people in AI for 2023.
