Las Vegas: Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang has taken centre stage at CES 2025, announcing the company’s highly anticipated RTX 50-series gaming chips. The new family of chips, leveraging Nvidia’s cutting-edge Blackwell artificial intelligence (AI) technology, pledges to deliver movie-quality images with a performance boost twice as fast as previous models. Prices for the RTX 50-series will range from $549 (£438) to $1,999.
During his keynote address, Huang revealed the chips’ capabilities with a live, real-time rendering of stunning graphics, showcasing intricate textures and dynamic movements. The display left tech experts and enthusiasts in wonder, with robotics graduate student Gary Yang from the California Institute of Technology noting that, “Previously, we’d think of these graphics as pre-rendered.”
The RTX 50-series is positioned to hit the market in late January, with eager consumers already expecting the arrival of Nvidia’s next-gen graphics powerhouse.

Nvidia’s performance at CES arrives on the heels of the company’s record-high stock price, echoing its position as a leader in the AI chip market. Founded in 1993, Nvidia’s focus initially was on graphics processing for video games, but it has since evolved into a dominant force in AI hardware.
Today, with a market value exceeding $3 trillion, Nvidia continues to drive innovation. Despite its success, Nvidia encounters scrutiny from regulators globally, including the US, UK, EU, South Korea, and China, as its influence over the AI chip market grows.
The CES 2025 convention is expected to attract more than 150,000 attendees and over 4,500 exhibitors over the next week, cementing the event’s role as a major phase for technological breakthroughs.
