Nepal: A Sherpa guide from Nepal has successfully scaled Mount Everest for the 26th time, according to officials. This feat matches the record previously set by fellow Nepalese guide Mr. Kami Rita Sherpa, establishing them both as the individuals with the most ascents of the world’s highest peak.

The 46-year-old Mr. Pasang Dawa Sherpa reached the summit of the 8,849-meter (29,032-foot) Mount Everest, solidifying his position as the second person in the world to accomplish this remarkable feat. The announcement was made by government tourism official Mr. Bigyan Koirala on 14th May 2023.

As Mr. Kami Rita, the seasoned climber, currently tackles Mount Everest, he stands the chance of setting another record if he successfully reaches the pinnacle of the world’s highest mountain. According to the expedition organizer Imagine Nepal Treks, Mr. Dawa Sherpa successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest on 14th May 2023 morning, accompanied by a Hungarian climber.

Renowned for their exceptional climbing abilities, Sherpas, often referred to by their first names, are recognized as expert mountaineers. Their livelihood primarily revolves around guiding foreign clients in the mountains, showcasing their extensive knowledge and skills in the field.

According to Mr. Dawa Futi, it was Ms. Naila Kiani, a Pakistani woman, who became the first foreign climber to successfully reach the summit of Mount Everest in this year’s climbing season. This climbing season typically spans from March to May.

Due to the ongoing influx of foreign climbers making their way towards the peak, independent confirmation of Ms. Kiani’s achievement as the first foreign climber to summit Mount Everest this season remains pending.

Notably, this year marks the 70th anniversary of the historic first ascent of Mount Everest in 1953 by New Zealander Mr. Edmund Hillary and his Sherpa guide Mr. Tenzing Norgay. Since then, the mountain has been climbed over 11,000 times, symbolizing a remarkable milestone in mountaineering history.
