United States: Mr. Elon Musk has reportedly discussed with the Italian government about the possibility of arranging his proposed cage fight against Meta owner Mr. Mark Zuckerberg at a historic location in Italy.
In June 2023, the CEO of Facebook initially mentioned the concept of a one-on-one scrap through a series of posts on social media. This proposal emerged as Mr. Zuckerberg was getting ready to introduce Threads, a competing microblogging platform, while Mr. Musk had renamed his Twitter platform.
The Italian Culture Minister, Mr. Gennaro Sangiuliano, stated that, “I had a long and friendly phone conversation with Elon Musk. We talked about the common passion for the history of ancient Rome. We are discussing how to organise a great charity and historical evocation event in full respect of the sites. It will not be held in Rome.”
The fight will be managed by my and Zuck’s foundations (not UFC).
Livestream will be on this platform and Meta. Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all.
I spoke to the PM of Italy and Minister of Culture. They have agreed on an epic location.

Mr. Musk remarked that “Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all.” The Tesla CEO mentioned having conversations with Italy’s Prime Minister, Ms. Giorgia Meloni, as well as the Culture Minister, and they had collectively chosen an impressive venue. Earlier in the day, Mr. Musk shared the term “gladiators” alongside two crossed-sword emojis.
Yet, Mr. Sangiuliano subsequently released a statement excluding Rome as an option. Across Italy, there are numerous historic Roman and Greek sites, ranging from north to south. These include the Capua amphitheatre and the Pompeii ruins near Naples, as well as the ancient Greek temples in Agrigento, Sicily. Additionally, the Verona arena, constructed in AD 30 and still utilised for opera, concerts, and various events, is also part of Italy’s rich heritage.
