While speaking at the Middle East Green Initiative summit, which was held in conjunction with COP27, the Kuwaiti crown prince, Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad Al-Jaber al-Sabah, also reaffirmed the country’s dedication to regional and global environmental resolutions and initiatives and mentioned efforts to boost green space.

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman initiated the Middle East Green Initiative last year in an attempt to reduce regional carbon emissions.

Mr. Salem Al-Sabah emphasized that Kuwait adheres to all of the commitments it made from the start of the first climate conference in the Brazilian capital in 1992 through the Paris conference in 2015. The Kuwaiti minister added that Kuwait has carried out numerous projects to protect the environment and reduce emissions.

The minister mentioned that the initiative of Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the “Green Middle East” is good for the world and the region. This is one of the objectives of the UN summit, which is to encourage nations to set deadlines for becoming carbon neutral.
