London: Buckingham Palace has announced that King Charles III of Britain will resume his public responsibilities next week. This will be his first public appearance since he was diagnosed with cancer almost three months ago.
The Palace stated in its official statement that the King will soon return to his public-facing duties after receiving treatment and taking time to convalesce. It was mentioned that the King’s medical team is very optimistic about his improvement but did not reveal any further details.
King Charles, accompanied by Queen Camilla, will be visiting an anonymous cancer centre to meet medical experts and patients. The palace stated that this visit would be the first of several outward engagements that the king would embark on in the coming weeks. In June, His Majesty will also welcome Japanese Emperor Naruhito on a state visit.
As the commemoration of his coronation on May 6 approaches, the king and queen express their thankfulness for the many kindnesses and good wishes they received from around the globe throughout the pleasures and challenges of the past year. His Majesty, who is 75 years old, was limiting his public arrivals since he was diagnosed with an unidentified form of cancer in February.
The cancer was discovered after he was hospitalised for an enlarged prostate, but the palace confirmed that it is not prostate cancer. According to the palace, King Charles’ therapy schedule is ongoing, and his doctors are satisfied with the improvement so far. It is still too early to decide how long his medical treatment will continue, but his medical squad is hopeful about his recovery.
The palace expressed that although His Majesty is resuming his commitments, it will not be a full summer schedule, and his duties will be subject to his physicians’ guidance. The King is grateful to his medical team for their ongoing care and expertise and is motivated to resume some public-facing duties. The diagnosis of the king’s disease marked an unsubstantial duration for Britain’s royals.
