King Charles emphasized Labour’s commitment to economic growth, clean energy, and various social reforms. Key initiatives include the establishment of Great British Energy, headquartered in Scotland, to boost renewable energy investment, and a push to reform planning rules to accelerate infrastructure projects.

The speech also highlighted plans to strengthen the U.K.’s water regulator, empower the police to tackle anti-social behavior, and remove tax exemptions on private school fees to fund new teachers. A gradual increase in the legal smoking age and a crackdown on vape products were also mentioned.

This traditional speech marks the opening of Parliament, setting the government’s policy agenda, though it holds no legal power. It is a symbolic statement of intent, crafted by the government and delivered by the monarch.
