Justin Trudeau criticizes Israel on killing babies in Gaza

However, it expressed increasing concern, along with the US and other allies, about the rising death toll in the battered enclave, where local health experts estimate that 11,000 people have been killed since the conflict started.

Canada: Canadian Prime Minister Mr. Justin Trudeau has stated that the “killing of women, of children, of babies” in the besieged Gaza Strip must end. It was Mr. Trudeau’s sharpest criticism of Israel since the war against Hamas broke out in early October.

Canada has argued that Israel has the right to defend itself against Hamas after the Palestinian group attacked southern Israel last month, killing 1,400 people and taking over 200 hostage.

However, it expressed increasing concern, along with the US and other allies, about the rising death toll in the battered enclave, where local health experts estimate that 11,000 people have been killed since the conflict started.

“I urge the government of Israel to exercise maximum restraint. The world is watching, on TV, on social media – we are hearing the testimonies of doctors, family members, survivors, kids who have lost their parents,” the Prime Minister remarked.

“The world is witnessing this killing of women, of children, of babies. This has to stop,” Mr. Trudeau told a news conference in the western province of British Columbia.

36 babies’ lives were in danger at Gaza’s Al Shifa Hospital, according to medical personnel there who stated that despite an Israeli attempt to provide incubators for an evacuation, there was no clear way to move them.

During the weekend, Gaza’s largest hospital ran out of gasoline to power generators that had kept their incubators running, resulting in the deaths of three of the initial 39 premature babies.

Additionally, Mr. Trudeau said that Hamas must free all of its hostages and cease using Palestinians as human shields.
