United States: Jordan has canceled a summit scheduled to be held in Amman with US President Mr. Joe Biden and the Egyptian and Palestinian leaders to discuss Gaza.

It comes after hundreds were killed by a massive blast at Gaza hospital, as per the report.

According to Jordanian Foreign Minister Mr. Ayman Safadi, the meeting would be held at a time when the parties could agree to end the “war and the massacres against Palestinians.”

Jordan’s King Abdullah was poised to host a crucial four-way summit. The main agenda would have included urgent discussions on providing humanitarian aid to Gaza to avert a crisis and working towards easing tensions with Israel.

King Abdullah has blamed Israel for a blast at a Gaza hospital that killed about 500 Palestinians on October 17, 2023. He said it was a “shame on humanity” and called on Israel to immediately end its military presence in Gaza.

According to Palestinian officials, the explosion resulted from an Israeli air raid. On the other hand, Israeli officials attributed the blast to a misfired rocket by a Palestinian armed group.

Following the hospital explosion, US Representative Ms. Rashida Tlaib, the only Palestinian American in Congress, criticised Mr. Biden’s involvement in the Israel-Hamas conflict.

“This is what happens when you refuse to facilitate a ceasefire & help de-escalate. Your war and destruction only approach has opened my eyes and many Palestinian Americans and Muslims Americans like me,” Ms. Tlaib shared on X.
