United States: President Joe Biden’s campaign and its corresponding fundraising organisations have declared that they raised a total of $53 million in February. This increased their cash on hand to $155 million at the end of last month.
This marks a $25 million upsurge from January’s blended cash on hand for the Biden campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and Democratic state parties. The fundraising increase came as both Biden and former President Donald Trump secured their party nominations and the commencement of the general election.
The campaign affirmed that February was the most powerful month for grassroots fundraising since it was founded in April last year. The joint campaign credited some noteworthy events that occurred during the month as essential aspects of the large cash hauls, including an email from First Lady, Jill Biden, to donors.
Jill Biden played an active role in composing an email that was sent out after the release of special counsel Robert Hur’s report regarding Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents during his time as Vice President. Hur’s investigation concluded that no charges should be brought against the President. Nevertheless, the White House publicly criticized Hur, accusing him of making unwarranted remarks about Biden’s age and memory.
The campaign claimed that Jill Biden’s message defending her husband raised $853,000 for the campaign. Julie Chavez Rodriguez, the campaign manager, commented that, “We’re proud of the record-breaking fundraising machine we’ve built that is going toward reaching the voters about the stakes of this election.”
The campaign manager further stated that the funds would be used to expand the campaign’s state-level operations, invest in paid media, and cover the expenses of Vice President Kamala Harris, Biden, and their spouses during their campaigning. Additionally, the campaign proudly announced that they received $2 million in donations from small-dollar contributors in February.
