Gaza: The Israeli military has instructed all Palestinians to leave Gaza City and move south. This order comes as they continue their offensive across the northern, southern, and central areas of the Gaza Strip, resulting in dozens of deaths over the past 48 hours.
On Wednesday, flyers encouraging “everyone in Gaza City” to depart and travel “safe routes” south to Deir el-Balah and az-Zawayda were dropped from the sky.
The Interior Ministry of Gaza has urged citizens of Gaza City to defy Israeli evacuation orders, claiming that doing so is a component of the Israeli army’s psychological warfare campaign against Palestinians.
“This will only fuel mass suffering for Palestinian families, many of whom have been displaced many times,” the UN declared.
“The civilians must be protected,” said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’s spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, as per the report.
On June 27, Israel formally ordered the first evacuation of a portion of the city; two additional orders were made in the days that followed.
Nine months into the war, the army claims to be pursuing Hamas fighters who are regrouping in different regions of Gaza.
Tens of thousands of residents were forced to evacuate southward as a result of this week’s tanks moving into the city’s central and western districts, following the restart of the ground assault in the eastern Shujayea neighborhood.
The most recent evacuation order was issued one day after at least thirty people were killed and fifty-three injured, mostly women and children, in an Israeli air strike on al-Awdah School, according to Palestinian doctors.
