Lebanon: The Israeli military has claimed to have launched many airstrikes across Lebanon against the Hezbollah, following the assassination of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah in a suburb in southern Beirut.
The Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that at least 11 people were killed in an air raid on a house in the town of Ain in the Bekaa Valley in the northeast. It stated that a violent air raid was carried out by Israeli warplanes a short while ago on an area between Shiyah and Ghobeiry in Beirut’s southern suburb, as smoke was seen rising in the sky and ambulances rushed to the targeted location.
The new agency also said that the air raid targeted a person in a residential apartment in the area, and that the warplanes were circling throughout the morning over Beirut and the suburban region.
A day after the Lebanese armed group confirmed that Nasrallah was killed in the southern Beirut suburb of Dahiyeh, the Israeli military claimed to have killed Nabil Kaouk, another high-ranking Hezbollah official. This was a major blow to the group that has been fighting Israel cross-border since last October.
Hezbollah started firing rockets at Israel in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. The group has set a ceasefire in Gaza as a condition to stop its cross-border attacks.
The Israeli military said in a statement on the Telegram messaging app that its air forces attacked “dozens of terrorist targets” in Lebanon in the past few hours, hitting “buildings where weapons and military structures of the organization were stored”.
