The world unites to celebrate International Women’s Day 2025 on March 8 to unlock equal rights, power, and opportunities, anticipating a feminist future where no one is left behind.

The United Nations (UN) directs this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD) celebrations under the theme: “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.”

This year also celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, a landmark dedication to gender equality that has shaped global policies on women’s rights. Since its adoption in 1995, the declaration has driven improvement in legal protections, access to education and healthcare, youth engagement, and shifting outdated social norms.

Young women and adolescent girls are at the heart of this year’s movement, identified as catalysts for lasting change. Advocacy efforts are urging world leaders, corporations, and communities to invest in policies that uplift women and guarantee equal opportunities for future generations.

    Key areas of focus

    • Equal pay & economic empowerment – Closing the gender wage gap and expanding women’s access to leadership and financial resources.
    • Ending gender-based violence – Strengthening policies and support systems to eliminate violence against women and girls.
    • Women in leadership & politics – Advocating for equal representation in decision-making roles across all sectors.
    • Digital & educational access – Ensuring young women and girls have opportunities in technology, STEM careers, and higher education.

    How to get involved

    • Engage with policymakers – Urge authorities to support gender equality policies.
    • Amplify voices – Share stories, initiatives, and advocacy measures using #ForAllWomenAndGirls to inspire global action.
    • Support women-led initiatives – Promote businesses, organisations, and projects led by women and girls.
    • Mentor & Empower – Encourage young women and girls to seek leadership roles and education.

Governments, media, businesses, and civil society groups are being called upon to take definite action toward gender equality. People worldwide are encouraged to share International Women’s Day stories, messages, and initiatives using the hashtag #ForAllWomenAndGirls to spark dialogue and inspire change.

As the world marks International Women’s Day 2025, the UN’s ring to action reminds us that gaining true gender equality requires sustained commitment, bold policies, and collective effort to ensure a future where all women and girls can thrive.
