India – Pakistan T20 World Cup tickets sold out within minutes; ICC

Tickets for the clash between the arch-rivals, India and Pakistan, scheduled for October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) Australia, have sold out, with “extra standing-room tickets snapped up within minutes of going on sale, according to the global cricket governing body, International Cricket Council (ICC).

The official body governing the sport of cricket across the globe revealed that “an official re-sale platform will be launched closer to the event, where fans can exchange tickets at face value.”

The ICC shared that “fans from 82 different countries have purchased tickets to watch the world’s best players from 16 international teams, marking the return of full stadiums at ICC events for the first time since the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2020, which culminated with 86,174 fans for the final at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground).”

Tickets for South Africa’s match against Bangladesh and India and the Group A runners-up are also sold out, although additional tickets may be made available.

“Only a very limited number of tickets remain for Australia’s opening Super 12 fixture against New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on 22 October, the double-header featuring Pakistan vs Group A runner-up and India v South Africa at Perth Stadium on 30 October, and Pakistan vs South Africa at the SCG on 3 November,” the ICC added.

India and Pakistan can only play each other in world events as political restrictions prevent bilateral series. Men’s T20 World Cup regional organizing committee CEO Ms. Michelle Enright praised the passion and support of South Asian fans.
