Immigrants are ‘poisoning the blood of our country’; Trump

The ex-President faced criticism again for using the phrase "poisoned blood," which was seen as echoing white supremacist ideas, marking the second instance of such controversy.

United States: Mr. Donald Trump, former US President, has once again stated at a rally in New Hampshire that immigrants are “poisoning the blood of our country” shortly after labelling certain segments of American society as “vermin” in a fascist manner.

The former President seemed to go back on his previous threats to “root out the communists, Marxists, fascists, and the radical left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country that lie, steal, and cheat on elections” at his previous rally in New Hampshire, which drew criticism. On Saturday, he appeared to make similar threats in Durham.

“They’re poisoning the blood of our country. That’s what they’ve done,” Mr. Trump told the crowd.

“They poison mental institutions and prisons all over the world, not just in South America … but all over the world. They’re coming into our country, from Africa, from Asia, all over the world,” Mr. Trump observed.

The former President used the phrase “poisoned blood” for the second time, and both times he has received backlash for echoing white supremacist statements.

Mr. Joe Biden, the US President, initially claimed in October that the former president, who is accused of 91 crimes, was beginning to speak in terms that were popular in Nazi Germany, as per the statement.

“Trump also recently talked about, ‘The blood of America is being poisoned’ … Again, echoes the same phrases used in Nazi Germany,” Mr. Biden said at the time.

In 2017, the US President banned entry to many countries with a majority of Muslims, including those in Africa. On Saturday, he declared that he would “restore and expand” his travel bans to the US and that he would “implement strong ideological screening for all illegal immigrants.”
