Georgia: Four people have been killed in a mass shooting that occurred at Apalachee High School in Barrow County, Georgia, northeast of Atlanta. A 14-year-old student has been booked for killing two students and two teachers, and injuring nine, before surrendering to school resource officers.

Students have said that they heard gunfire and barricaded themselves in classrooms, then later fled to the football field to reunite with anxious parents.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) said in a news conference that the gunman, the 14-year-old student named Colt Gray, steep consequences. “He will be charged with murder, and he will be tried as an adult and handled as an adult.” “The priority right now for us within this investigation is to gather all the facts, to make sure that we’re accurate with it, because this is a murder investigation,” GBI director, Chris Hosey, told media.

Acknowledging the devastating news, Kamla Harris posted on X, “Today, Doug and I are mourning the deaths of those whose lives were cut short by gun violence at Apalachee High School in Georgia. Our hearts are with the students, teachers, and families impacted by this shooting, and we are grateful to the first responders and law enforcement on the scene. This is a senseless tragedy, and it does not have to be this way. We must end the epidemic of gun violence in our country once and for all.”
