California, US: Mr. Donald Trump, the former US president who was banned from the social media platform Twitter by its previous owners, is up for re-admittance, according to a poll released by Mr. Elon Musk.

The head of Twitter added the Latin phrase “Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” which means “the voice of the people is the voice of God,” to it.

Before agreeing to buy Twitter, Mr. Musk declared that if he became the company’s CEO, he would lift the “foolish” restriction on Mr. Trump.

Mr. Musk previously quoted that, “Permanent bans should be extremely rare and really reserved for accounts that are bots or spam, scam accounts. I do think it was not correct to ban Donald Trump.”

“I think that was a mistake because it alienated a large part of the country and did not ultimately result in Donald Trump not having a voice,” the new head of Twitter further added.

In January 2021, Mr. Trump’s Twitter account was permanently suspended due to the attack on the US Capitol by his supporters that left many people dead. The tech company claimed it made the choice in response to the riot on January 6th  because of the possibility of further inciting violence. At the time, Mr. Trump had more than 80 million Twitter followers.

Mr. Trump’s account will likely not be restored, according to Musk, who also claimed that Twitter has reinstated other contentious accounts that had been suspended or banned, including the satirical website Mr. Babylon Bee and comedian Mr. Kathy Griffin.
