United States: Mr. Elon Musk has revealed that he has identified a new chief executive officer to head Twitter. Making the announcement on the social media platform, which he acquired last year for $44 billion, Mr. Musk stated that the new CEO, a woman, would assume the role in six weeks. Following this transition, Mr. Musk himself will take on the positions of executive chairman and chief technology officer.
With mounting expectations for Mr. Musk to appoint a successor and redirect his attention toward his other ventures, this move comes amid increasing pressure. While the identity of the incoming CEO remains undisclosed, the decision signifies Mr. Musk’s intention to entrust the leadership of Twitter to a new figure, allowing him to shift his focus accordingly.
In response to an online poll last year where Twitter users voted for his resignation, Mr. Elon Musk stated, “No one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive.” Despite his initial declaration to step down, it remained uncertain when, or even if, the handover would occur.
After the announcement of Elon Musk’s intention to step down from his involvement in Twitter, Tesla shares experienced a notable rise. However, shareholders have previously accused Musk of neglecting Tesla’s interests following his acquisition of Twitter, asserting that it has resulted in brand damage for the car company.
According to two separate US media reports Ms. Linda Yaccarino, the head of advertising at NBCUniversal, is reportedly engaged in discussions to potentially become the chief executive of Twitter. Citing sources familiar with the matter, both publications highlighted Yaccarino’s potential candidacy for the role.
