Donald Trump’s campaign rally calls off due to weather

The campaign was Trump's first major event since his New York felony legal trial began.

United States: The former US President, Donald Trump, has called off a campaign rally at the last minute in Wilmington, North Carolina due to the inclement weather. This state is considered a battlefield as Trump won it by just over 1 percent of the ballot in the 2020 presidential election.

This event was planned to be Trump’s first major drive since his felony criminal trial started in New York. The former president was expressing his rage regarding the lawful proceedings all week. Due to the trial, he must attend throughout its course, which restricts the amount of campaigning he can do. Trump is currently assessed with fabricating business records in an endeavour to conceal an expenditure made on a porn star.

Donald Trump made several inaccurate and misleading statements about his trial to safeguard his conduct, criticise the judge and prosecutors, and portray himself as a target of political persecution. His presidential election rally would only mark a brief break in his criminal trial in New York, the first for a US president.

Besides this criminal suit, three other cases are still pending against him before the 2024 presidential election, all of which are in pretrial proceedings. A trial could also be held for at least one of them before the election. Trump should return to New York when attorneys present their opening arguments in the trial.

President Joe Biden’s campaign was relatively quiet about the ongoing court proceedings, except for occasional remarks about Trump seeming to fall napping during the hearings. Instead, Biden focused on campaigning in Pennsylvania, an important swing state, where he was criticising Trump as an out-of-touch capitalist.

Furthermore, the president intensified his efforts to challenge another presidential opponent, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who secured a place on the general election voting in Michigan. This move could potentially split the votes of both contenders in one of the crucial battlefield states. The Biden campaign also received acceptance from some of Kennedy’s families, emphasising the point that Kennedy’s candidacy provoked a split within his well-known political family.
