China: China’s top diplomat accuses the United States of breaking international standards with “hysterical” behaviour when a long-running dispute about a suspected Chinese spy balloon came to the surface at a global security conference in Munich.
President Mr. Joe Biden’s administration has a “misguided” impression of Beijing, according to Mr. Wrang Yi, who addressed a group of world leaders at the Munich Security Conference, and he charged that the US was attempting to “smear” the Asian power as it was enacting laws that went against its own ideals, including free trade.
Since a massive white Chinese balloon was sighted above several top-secret nuclear weapons installations on 4th February 2023 and then shot down just off the east coast, Washington has been in a state of anxiety. Beijing says the craft was used for weather research and denies using surveillance balloons. It then claimed that Washington had sent its own espionage balloons over its territory, a claim that the US has refused.
US Secretary of State Mr. Antony Blinken abruptly postponed a rare trip to China as a result of the argument. All eyes are on whether both sides are successful in arranging up a meeting because Blinken is also attending the conference in Munich.
Yet when asked if he intended to meet with the US delegation, Mr. Wang responded angrily. He claimed that Washington had the incorrect perception of China as a significant geopolitical danger to the US.
