Beijing: China’s push for a digital and green future has taken a significant step forward with the release of new guidelines aimed at synchronizing digital development with green growth. The guidelines, issued by China’s Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission alongside nine central departments, emphasize the country’s commitment to sustainable development through innovative technologies.

Published on Saturday, the guidelines highlight two primary goals: promoting green, low-carbon development within digital industries and accelerating the green transformation of various sectors through digital technology. By merging emerging technologies with green initiatives, China aims to enhance traditional industries while fostering a more sustainable future.

The guidelines outline a collaborative approach, detailing the roles of authorities, industry associations, universities, research institutes, and businesses in driving this transition. A three-part framework is proposed, focusing on building basic capacity, developing technological systems, and integrating industrial systems for seamless digital-green integration.

By leveraging digital technology to promote green growth, the country aims to set a global example in sustainable development.
