Seoul: China has said it is ready to deepen its relationship with North Korea to enhance strategic cooperation in international and regional affairs, according to a report by North Korean state media KCNA.
Chinese President Xi Jinping made the remark in a letter to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, in response to a message from Kim marking the anniversary of the foundation of China’s Communist Party. Xi stated that China and North Korea are ‘good neighbors and good friends,’ sharing mutual support and a common destiny. The letter said that the friendship between the two nations has continued to strengthen through joint efforts and diplomatic exchanges.
According to the report, both leaders outlined a ‘blueprint’ for the future development of bilateral ties during Kim’s visit to China in September. The visit was part of ongoing diplomatic engagements between the two nations aimed at reinforcing political and economic relations amid changing regional dynamics.

KCNA also reported that on October 11, foreign ministers of Indonesia and North Korea met in Pyongyang, where they discussed strengthening cooperation on regional and international issues of mutual concern. The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance collaboration on shared interests, though further details were not disclosed.
The Indonesian minister’s visit is part of events marking the 80th anniversary of North Korea’s ruling Workers’ Party. Several foreign representatives have travelled to Pyongyang for the commemorations, reflecting renewed diplomatic engagement between North Korea and its Asian partners.
The ongoing communication between Beijing and Pyongyang underscores the long-standing strategic partnership that continues to shape the regional geopolitical landscape.
