Mumbai: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has undergone emergency surgery after being stabbed during an attempted burglary at his Mumbai residence early Thursday morning. The actor is currently out of danger and in recovery, his team confirmed.

Mumbai police reported that an unknown intruder entered Khan’s upscale home in the city after midnight. A scuffle followed, during which the actor sustained multiple injuries. Deputy Commissioner of Police Dixit Gedam said that the investigation is underway, with teams started to apprehend the assailant.

Doctors at Lilavati Hospital, where Khan was admitted, delivered an update on his condition. Dr. Nitin Dange stated that, “He sustained a major injury to the thoracic spinal cord due to a lodged knife in the spine. A surgery was executed to remove the knife and repair dripping spinal fluid. Additionally, deep wounds on his left hand and neck were treated by the plastic surgery team.”

Khan’s team assured fans that he is stable but requested privacy, stating that, “This is a police matter. We request tolerance and understanding during this time.” Khan’s wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their two children were reportedly at home during the happening but remain unharmed. The family has not made any public statements.
