Italy: Venice will introduce a fee for day tourists to enter the city’s overcrowded historic centre from next April. Through the scheme, Venice authorities aim to reduce crowds, encourage longer visits, and improve the quality of life for residents. Switzerland: The World Health Organisation (WHO) has issued a warning that the misuse of antibiotics is denting their efficacy and spawning resistant bacteria which could be responsible for 10 million deaths worldwide by 2050.
