Ukraine: Russian missiles have struck major cities in Ukraine, following Mr. Vladimir Putin’s vow to step up the attacks. Four people are dead and numerous others are injured in the attack. Both sides have launched significant aerial assaults in the last few days.
39 people were killed last week when Russia launched the largest aerial bombardment of the conflict. On Saturday, Ukrainian forces launched an attack on Belgorod, a city bordering Russia, leaving at least 25 people dead and over 100 injured.
Mr. Putin promised that the attack would not go unpunished, and Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, stated that Moscow had fired dozens of missiles and 170 drones since Sunday alone.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported on Tuesday that it had shot down 35 Russian drones that had been launched late on Monday. The drone strikes were then followed by more attacks by Russian strategic bombers.
Following the drone strikes, the Ukrainian military declared that 99 different types of missiles had been fired from the air and sea in retaliation for last Friday’s assault. They claimed to have destroyed seventy-two cruise and supersonic missiles.
Officials in Kyiv reported that an elderly woman had passed away from her wounds and that high-rise apartments, warehouses, and supermarkets had been struck by debris from Russia’s attacks. Gas pipelines were damaged in one district, and several parts of the capital lost power and water supplies.
Mr. Oleh Syniehubov, the regional governor of Kharkiv, reported that the air force was ready for more strikes and that the city’s centre had been struck. Air defences brought down drones in the city of Mykolaiv, in southern Ukraine, according to the mayor, and the debris started a fire.
