United States: McDonald’s, an American multinational fast food company, has introduced CosMc’s, a beverage-led concept small-format restaurant.
In a test launch, the first CosMc’s store will open this month in Bolingbrook, Illinois, and a few more will follow in the upcoming months. By 2027, the fast-food chain also intends to open about 10,000 McDonald’s locations worldwide, with a large number of those locations in China.
The announcement was in line with the company’s investor day. Executives revealed long-term goals for the development of a new restaurant, plans to sign up 100 million new members for the loyalty programme, and a strategic alliance with Google.
The new brand’s name is derived from a McDonald’s mascot that first appeared in late 1980s and early 1990s commercials and is an extraterrestrial alien who has a voracious appetite.
When the crisis in living expenses struck, people tended to purchase less expensive fast-food options like McDonald’s, which has not been negatively impacted by erratic consumer spending.
According to the report, the fast-food chain also disclosed its growth strategy for what may be its fastest-ever era.
The most recent expansion consists of 1,900 new restaurants in international markets where it runs its own restaurants, 7,000 new restaurants in its internationally licenced markets, and 900 new restaurants in the US. China is McDonald’s second-largest market, and over half of the 7,000 new hires will be based there.
The menu features both new and classic items like Churro Frappes and pretzel bites. Old favourites like Egg McMuffins and M&M McFlurries are also available.
