United States: The White House stated that it is working with Tesla to increase the number of electric vehicle charging stations in the US, with the goal of having at least 7,500 of these stations open to all-electric vehicles (EVs) by the end of 2024.
Tesla EVs require use an adaptor to connect to charging stations that employ a specific type of power connector. According to the White House, Tesla will seek to add at least 3,500 new and existing 250 KW superchargers along highways and level 2 destination charges at establishments like hotels and restaurants across the nation. Additionally, Tesla intends to expand its network of superchargers.
By 2030, the Biden administration aimed to install 500,000 EV chargers beside highways and have 50percent of new vehicle sales in the nation be EVs. Approximately 3 million electric vehicles (EVs) and 60,000 charging stations are now in use in the US.
Mr. Elon Musk’s decision to launch the Tesla charging network was lauded by President Mr. Joe Biden, who said it was a “huge thing” and will “make a tremendous impact.” Mr. Biden tweeted, “We have to make sure that as many chargers function for as many drivers as feasible when establishing our EV charging network.
The bipartisan infrastructure bill that was passed in 2021 provides the majority of the funding for the expansion of the EV charging network. The law allots $7.5 billion for charging infrastructure, which includes a $2.5 billion program for community grants. The White House announced in September 2022 that all 50 states intended to use the bill’s cash to construct chargers.
After rumours surfaced that Mr. Musk visited with White House representatives in late January 2023, but not with Mr. Biden personally, the White House announced its cooperation with Tesla.
The new standards announced today by @USDOT and @ENERGY will make charging electric vehicles convenient and reliable to for all Americans, including when driving long distance – no matter what car you drive or which state you charge in. https://t.co/kceP5otASe

Particularly on unions, Mr. Musk has fought with the government and other Democrats. Mr. Biden previously commended GM and Ford, both of which collaborate with unions, for their EV efforts as opposed to Tesla. The following year, after Mr. Biden lauded GM and Ford for “building more electric vehicles here at home than ever before,” Musk referred to Biden as “a damp [sock] puppet in human form” in a tweet.
